At
left, my Gancia dei Gancia shows you a typical case
Measuring
its max speed with an onboard GPS actually reveals a "max average
speed" between 2 satellite check-points. Say at every 10 meters
...
Radar
gun for its own measures an "instant peak speed" by direct
refraction somewhere on the hull at hi frequency
As
a result with such a non-continuous motion, Radar
measure is more optimistic than the GPS one
Here,
the Radar will catch the peak speed of the Gancia on the left attitude
(highest thrust/drag point) meanwhile the GPS will record its average
speed between 2 distant locations
Despite
the common preference for Radar, I personnaly prefer the GPS method
because it's the only one to tell you the actual
speed on a travel, and not only a sudden peak speed
Both
methods allow people to compare their models so go for the one other
people use and don't be fooled by people telling you they radared
their models at 50km/h while you GPSed yours at 45km/h : Their models
aren't necessary faster than yours !!
