Custom R/C Laronde

Affordable R/C camera system  2001

4 ways of control

Manual control

Simplest way

Used for onboard video purpose ... The red button actuates the mode and the permanent switch actuates the Shutter

The mouse is located on the top of my cars or on the deck of my boats for easy use

Note it's a very low-cost solution to operate manually the cam when mounted on the vehicule

Timer control

5min recording

Used for no r/c hassle ... An electric timer is supplied by the digicam own cells

The switch is activated just before take off so the cam shoots a picture every past 12s ... Results in more than 5min motion coverage with the 26 pictures mode

Note a 4-wiring is required : Ground - Mode - Shutter - Positive

Extra R/C channel

Extra channel device

Used for most aerial pictures ... An unused channel of my Tx controls the cam

The pico-sized servo (Hitec HS50) actually controls both Mode and Shutter with a simple spring contact on both travel ends ... It allows me to power ON the cam during the flight and shoot manually

Note that I use the 4th channel along with the OLY3 airplane (i.e. 3-channel only flight control)

Separate R/C unit

Extra Tx and Rx

Used when I wanted an independant Cam control so a second operator ... Finally quite rarely

A scratch-built balsa box contains both 4x 170mAh cells, a Jack charge plug, a 2-channel AM Rx and a 2-channel Relay ... The system requires a dedicated AM transmitter so it can be used for any task

Note that the analogic relay technology proved to be uncomfortable compared to the direct contact control so please prefer a servo control as above

Ultimate bracket

New connection

This new connection is compatible with both Aiptek Megcam and Digital Laronde digicams !

It's also more reliable than the old one
