Nb of cells versus Capacity

 

Car category is very conservative in the Battery range, keep the number of cells on the never-ending 6 ! My purpose was to test absolutely stock machines with alternative batteries and motors ... Let you also know than bigger power is easily available on the same Weight & Cost range !

 

 

 

Looking for an handy

10 cells configuration ....

1250mAh SCRL was logical choice 'cause of their pretty good internal resistance and serious behaviour under hard conditions.


I Succesfully used ones with Neodym power and their reduced lenght let me think about a 4-long pack same to 3-long 1700Ah.

T iron is needed to solder them properly

 

Created to fit all my

1/10 Off-road chassis

 

Previously designed for my new Alien Mid 4, the pack was a joy to match my common test platform : a 4x2 Kyosho Outrage chassis

Here, you can see the Schulze Slim50be able to run Bec on 12 cells and Neodym Power without any trouble.

This ESC couldn't be compared to Car ones : it handles far more Amp & Cells ...

Perfect to break-in the cells : Speed 360 PT 9.6V

 

I used my old brave Speed 360PT motor with a better head taken from my Gold 12x2 SMT.

This component  is another trouble-free and have a specific clean and linear response, nice for testing activity !

It's also a rational choice to break-in the newly packaged cells due to its 70% efficiency on about 15A.

The stuff mainly weighed the same than regular.

not a surprise considering the 428g of the 10 cells pack.

The long Speed can is about 30g more than a modified 05.

After a few cycles, My custom 10cells pack let me appreciate the potential of my brave HIROBO Alien Mid 4 !
ULtra 920-6 + Slim50 Schulze ESC + 10x 1250SCRL pack =
Very very convincing formula for sure !!

The flat pack greatly fits the tub-style Hirobo Chassis and the so-called MID-Motor position made ULTRA 920 can perfect choice ! Motor mount is great for heat dissipating and strenght. Identically, space left between mount and rear wheel accepts with no doubt such a wind.

Unique modification concerned the 5mm-drill pinion (from std 3.17mm-drill Kyosho pinion)

First run occured September 4th evening and revealed not only the extra-torque pleasure of this old outstanding 1.785g off-road machine but also its hi-speed and ... far more surprising ... duration on 1.25Ah accumulators !!

For sure, this Alien ran the way each owner would have dream for !!
