"400 retrofit" refers to B/L systems which can be used in order to replace a typical Spd400 - Spd480 based powerplant. Note their weight can noticeably vary from say 50 to 110g and Input power as well (100-250W).

Shaft Diameter is IMPORTANT interchangeability criterium so I took care to mention it when available. Despite of the few companies involved in, this class is a second 2-digit growing segment to consider due to the 1/2A E-revolution it makes happen ... Note also many of them can respectably replace stock 1/10° car powerplants ...

"500 retrofit" refers to B/L systems which can be used in order to replace a typical Spd500 - Spd600 based powerplant. 1/10° Car segment is noticeably concerned by this class as for main E-Boat segment and E-Glider segment.

Note their weight can vary from say 130 to 190g and Input power as well (250-500W). INTERCHANGEABILITY is CRITICAL so I took care to mention Shaft dia, etc. when available. As an example, despite of the Electronicmodel B/L systems exceptional value, their 6.0mm 'F5B' Shaft Dia and 'unwaited' 38mm Overall Dia force them to not be used directly in typical Car configurations (Not enough Material left on Pinion gear & no fitting issue when limited space)

ESC COMPATIBILITY is another KEY value here but note that dedicated ESCs are always offered alongside and the past 2 years only tended to set a 1st standard issue ... So I only intended to point out the "sensor" designs of the past from the now common sensorless era ...

R/C CAR MARKET PENETRATION is THE FACT to consider to understand the trumendous value evolution of these 2 last years (so the next to come).

The competitive & industrial EAST-EUROPEAN B/L KNOW-HOW is another dynamic key to consider versus the historical U.S. mastering of ole'Ferro-05 car Tech&Market...

"Powerhouse" refers to 500W+ B/L systems which can be used in order to power up large Nitro or Gas based R/C designs such as 1/8-1/5 Cars, huge boats or say .40-.90 mono-engine airplanes ... Continuous Input power can now reach up to 1200W so 5-10kg machines are concerned ...

It's a whole class to consider due to the fact very few genuine ELECTRIC designs are concerned so their INTERCHANGEABILITY value is NOT A MAIN CRITERIUM. Note also that despite of its '13 companies' count, this segment will stay alone due to the fact it relies on Advanced to Expert modelers who have all the luck (time & money) to make such Electric performance happen. Beyond the overall E-Powerhouse Tech price to down (Cells+ESC+Motor+Charger), large R/C modeling activity has its own limitations by itself ...
