2WD 1:28 All-Terrain

Kyosho had a great idea when offering palm sized cars along with highly detailed bodies

They extended their success story to all terrain vehicles with a special Overland chassis

These vehicles can be seen as ultimate sub scale radicons compared to similarly scaled and powered Nikko or Taiyo toys

As a new experiment, Losi offered for Off-road what HPI created for on-road

Like HPI Mini-RS4, multiple hop-ups are available and Associated is awaited to rivalize Losi soon on its own new market

This is also an ultimate product compared to similarly scaled and powered Nikko or Taiyo toys

2WD 1:10 Buggy

1:10 Buggies were the first ever largely produced E-powered vehicles with an unparalleled design diversity back in the 80' ... Only a few brands actually survived this euphoric era

Nowadays 2WD buggies still vary from rookie bugs to super expensive advanced racers

Their terrain versatility and expressive look made them extremely popular R/C rides although the 1:10 Touring and 1:10 Stadium Truck recent success

4WD buggies are more complex machines and logically offer superior off-road handling

Mainly, 2WD remain funnier to drive and require higher skills for racing. They're all about power/weight ratio and grip & drift handling

4WD suffer from more boring control but allow faster laps along with more forgiving handling

Both configurations still can be raced today

2WD 1:10 ST

Buggy US racing scene gave birth to more forgiving vehicles, the Stadium Trucks

Longer arms, and larger suspension travel helped these rides reach an extremely well working design

They're even more versatile than 2WD buggies for a similar budget or weight and now settled as the most common sport off-road choice

As for 2WD buggies, a high spectrum of models is available from the rugged break-free RTR to the extremely rigid and slender racing kit

Keep in mind that slender designs actually break easily under rookie abuse

4WD Stadium Trucks remain rare and don't rely on any Racing class till today

Tamiya Mitsubishi Pajero

4WD Scale All-Terrain

Realistic off-road motion can be experienced on a budget with these electric powered models

Logically Tamiya excelled in this category with various SUV, All-terrain or military models

Their gear trains aren't designed for hi-power and most of them can be seriously damaged if run the hard way

So, please, don't consider them like more detailed ST or Buggies but a world apart

Wheelies are always fun and a whole sport !

Marui then Tamiya succeeded in a formula that cannot go out of the fashion

Hi speed isn't their goal, as for stability but bringing those rugged rollers for holidays places is always a good idea

You can have great time quite everywhere with them, and for a limited budget

2WD 1:10 MT

E-powered MT became popular first as rock-crawlers and after as cleaner contenders to Nitro Monster Trucks

Twin motors is a clever setup considering their typical weight and rotating part inertia handicaps

They're actually almost as fun to drive than Wheelie MT but with a superior versatility and durability

Their genuine low power/weight ratio didn't bring to them any racing chance but racing them between friends offers great time !

That big wheelers are very forgiving but prefer linear throttle control

Keep in mind that Stadium Trucks are definitely more efficient on fast tracks thus offer longer runtimes in such a given place

1:10 Rock Crawler

E-power always had an advantage when it's mainly a torque and reliability affair

Electric Rock Crawlers became popular for that reason and also because running keep them quite clean for static show

They're all about working master pieces so their price tag has always been that huge

Their popularity relied on the fact that quasi-static impressive models actually allow endless craftman work like on scale ships

Working headlights, working hydraulic, custom chassis or bodies are part of the fun you may have on a Rock Crawler project

Considering a Rock Crawler as an everyday use can be frustrating, especially if you mainly plan to run it along with other friends' buggies

4WD 1:8 MT

Running fast some 4kg+ big wheelers is very power demanding so such vehicles emerged quite recently as did the Traxxas E-Maxx

Twin ferro-05 setup is the common way today even if this tech is clearly overperformed by nowadays 700 or brushless motors, common on powerboats or planes

The current products lack by their silence and the power/weight ratio allowed by this Twin 05 setup despite their obvious great overall concept

The fact is 1:8 Nitro MT remain today the best bang for the buck and have the Dirty & Noisy side for them, an easy way to assert oneself, especially for teens

Whatever their powerplant or deep motivation, keep in mind that 1:8 Big Wheelers are true Go-everywhere fun rides and domesticated E-power a wise advantage
