Traxxas T-Maxx 2.5 2001 |
Wider version of the Truck that all made happen. Traxxas really created a whole market ! As an affordable and proven truck, the T-Maxx now deals with lots of contenders Kits and parts are widely available and you can count on an unparalleled hop-up offer so your T-Maxx virtually cannot be limited !
Kyosho Megaforce 2002 |
Kyosho reacted to Traxxas with a QRC variant targeted to beginners only It resulted in a 1:10 track, higher CoG ,Wild Willy2 class' suspension design and max speed limitation The great Kyosho marketing made it sell largely as a different than T-maxx ride ... But marketing is not enough Note the 1:10 hub design that is already overstressed by the rim offset and the inefficient suspension |
Kyosho Mad Force 2002 |
Sturdy but very efficient design ! Solid-axle drive trains actually offer some good handling to this truck thanks to its super power / weight ratio !
HPI Savage 21 2002 |
As a real contender, the HPI design offers a very efficient suspension design along with large but lightweight wheels It became quickly a reference due to its overall durability compared to the T-Maxx one The large engine is another key of its success against Traxxas monopole
HPI Savage 25 2003 |
Racing version of the Savage with few hop-ups and a larger displacement engine Note that this second version came very quickly An intensive line of hop ups now comes to the market so your Savage will follow the way you want
CEN Genesis 2004 ?
Not available yet Very close to the HPI design but probably cheaper as CEN Genka uses to do CEN was the first company to reproduce the HPI layout as Kyosho did for the T-Maxx |
Associated Monster GT Late 2003
Just now available Quite close to the Traxxas design but with more durable features Thunder Tiger actually produced this first truck of the Associated company Associated successfully dealed till now with light chassis and powerplants |
Tamiya Terra Crusher "TC" 2001 |
Tamiya surprisingly made it big with uncommon 36cm wheelbase and Jumbo-style wheels Actually to much weight, gearing and wheels to make move for the honest .18 engine that came with In a result, this 1st Tamiya nitro MT ride didn't meet the planned audience despite of its obvious good points |
Tamiya Wild Commando "WC" 2002
This Bertha Ballistic version of the TC didn't succeeded better even if it corrected the baddest points, to say the energy-wasting wheels and the cheap-looking body The left black scheme is actually a limited edition from the military one At this point, Tamiya was forced to reconsider its concept to face the 2-digit growing MT market
Tamiya TNX Late 2003
Available on December 2003 Tamiya saved its MT design when announcing a complete re-looking and drastic weight losses ! The new tires greatly help in that departement, making also happen some decent performance along with a Traxxas-like restyled .18 engine
Hobao Monster Pirate "MP" 1999 |
Mainly a 1:8 Pirate buggy with heavy wheels so a very rugged approach The Monster Pirate ruled the race against first-time "soft-drink" .15 MTs Its wheels offer so much inertia that a serious engine is required and tight turns aren't safe at all ... Many wear also come from these wheels : Servo, bearings, hubs, etc. |
Hobao Dominator "Dom" 2002
Still as simple as the Monster Pirate but with some athletic wheels and truck skidplates Reduced inertia and even lower height offer superior handling : Even a .18 Traxxas engine will make it win against a T-Maxx on tracks It's actually a Stadium Truck due to its very limited ground clearance so the polemic about it |
Hobao Pirate MT Sport 2003
Successor of the Monster Pirate with Dom body and skidplates Not a better performer than the Monster Pirate but a good looking MT ! Note that all Buggy based MTs logically require similar preparation and even more maintenance than 1:8 racing buggies due to their very exposed gear |
Hot Bodies Dirt Demon 2003 |
New kid on the block based on the Lightning buggy ride Very few information available concerning this truck Shocks arrangement isn't smart but the wheels seem to be Hi-powered MT require maintenance so make sure that parts are available
Thunder Tiger EK-4 V2 2003
Insane ride with an .70 helicopter engine, also a .90 limited version ! it's based on the excellent EB-4 buggy and comes with some kind add-ons from the S1 and S2 versions This overpowered great machine must be throttled wisely to not break it Note the good looking but heavy wheels that don't stop such a large mill |
Duratrax Thunder Quake 2002 ? |
Inexpensive combo from Towerhobbies distributor Same wheelbase than the Terra Crusher but on a Buggy design : Front and rear arms just extand the 32.5cm diff distance to 36cm wheelbase The hubs are surprisingly 1:10 size but the the wheels offer a light offset
Hong Nor Megalith / Titan 2002 ? |
Heavy metal design Definitely a masterpiece despite its limited power/weight ratio
